The government today revised upwards the natural gas tariff for the non-power sector in peninsular Malaysia, but there will be no change in the selling price for residential customers, said Gas Malaysia Bhd.

The average gas tariff, which takes effect on Jan 1, will be revised by 17.11 percent from RM21.80 per one million British thermal unit (MMBtu) to RM25.53/MMBtu.

“This revision is in line with the national rationalisation plan whereby the adjustment to the price of piped gas will take place every six months with the implementation of the gas cost pass through mechanism,” said the gas supplier in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.
