An 11-year-old boy is missing from a village in Betong, about 300km from Kuching, and is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.

A spokesperson of the service said Fakhrul Dahari, a Year Four pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bungin, went missing at about 2.30pm yesterday from Kampung Bungin, Spaoh.

He said an eyewitness reported seeing Fakhrul being dragged into the river by a crocodile.

A search was launched for the boy but was called off at about 7pm due to failing light and will resume today, he added.
