A parking attendant at Kota Raya Plaza was jailed for four days and fined RM1,800 in default two months’ jail by the Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur today after pleading guilty to criminal intimidation.

Khairuddin Arbi @ Omar, 38, was charged with intimidating five male salesmen of a mobile phone shop at the plaza, namely Chiaw Wai Kit, 20, Lim Wai Hong, 27, Wong Weng Kong, 23, Liew Wai Chung, 21 and Yong Haw Nam, 22.

The accused had threatened to smash the shop on the ground floor of Kota Raya in Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 20 at 5pm.

The accused, who was wearing a red T-shirt, appeared calm when Magistrate Saifulakmal Said meted out the sentence.

He was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on Sunday.

Before handing down the sentence, Saifulakmal advised the accused not to repeat the mistake.

Based on the facts of the case, police received a phone call on Sunday that a fight had occurred at the plaza after mobile phone buyers claimed they had been cheated by traders.

Acting on information, police arrested the accused and investigations revealed that the accused had used abusive words and threats on the victims.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Farith Muhammad Faizal handled the prosecution while counsel Zulkifli Awang appeared for Khairuddin.
