An aide to the attorney-general has denied allegations in an article published by whistleblower website Sarawak Report that she had a hand in stopping the second autopsy on the body of murdered deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais.

"The report is a pack of lies and a manipulation of facts for an ulterior motive," The Malaysian Insider quoted special officer to the AG, Mabel Muttiah, as saying.

She said that the allegations called her integrity into question and affected her work and her family, adding that she was transferred out of the AG's Chambers following the accusations.

The Sarawak Report article had named her and alleged that she sent text messages to members of the deceased's family urging them into expediting the cremation of the late DPP's remains to head off an ongoing application for a second post mortem.

The article also claimed that threats and bribery were also attempted after her earlier cajoling did not work.

Refuting the allegations, Mabel accused the site of unethical journalism, for no attempts were made to contact her for a response prior to publishing their accusations.

She also reportedly lodged a police report on Monday at the Sentul district police headquarters to clear her name.

Brothers gave conflicting versions

Kevin's brothers told conflicting versions of the story to Malaysiakini when contacted over the matter.

Charles Morais, who is one of the family members who were asking for another post mortem to answer questions they say remain unanswered about their murdered brother, confirmed the allegations.

While, his younger brother Richard Morais who was the one who had claimed and cremated Kevin's remains despite the ongoing application for a second autopsy, denied the story.

Mabel had refused to comment when contacted by Malaysiakini .

Kevin's remains was found in a steel drum after he was kidnapped from his car on the way to work.

A former army doctor and five accomplices has been charged with his murder.

His abduction and murder became an object of much debate especially when linked to a sensitive case he was supposed to have been on, with the tussle over his body further fueling speculations.
