If they don’t fear God, why should they fear Paul Low?

YOURSAY | ‘The god that you all believe in is called money.’

If gov’t God-fearing, I'm not needed in cabinet, says Paul Low

Mojo Jojo: No wonder Malaysia has leaders who act with impunity. If individuals who believe in a creator have no fear for the divine, how would they come to fear men?

Integrity Minister Paul Low overstates his importance within the cabinet and forgets that he is but window dressing in a Najib-led cabinet experiencing a deficit in public confidence.

The moment Low became part of PM Najib Razak's administration as an utterly junior-ranked minister, he lost the credibility he built as Transparency International-Malaysia president. But the joke didn't end there.

No, Low might as well believe in the tooth fairy when proclaiming himself an acolyte of a 1Malaysia concept that neither exists in spirit not form.

At the very least, the tooth fairy is a white lie with little to no consequence, while 1Malaysia is anything but positive in the eyes of many.

Negarawan: "If we have the fear of God, actually there is no need for me to be in the government," said Low.

No god-fearing person will speak in such a conceited and self-righteous manner. These are the words of a shameless minister who does not even understand the meaning of integrity.

Odin Tajué: Low, you asked the Christian community and other communities to “come back to promote 1Malaysia”. You said that “1Malaysia should be more about the values we uphold and not about ethnicity. We can find common values among ethnic and religious groups”.

All that is total rubbish. The very body that you represent and are part of, which is the government itself, does not subscribe to the concept.

The very leader of that body himself does not subscribe to the concept. Did he say anything to show his disapproval of the seminar that the UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara) last organised in Malacca? Why, did you yourself?

You said that God had appointed you to your position. DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has made the same claim. Najib has been said to have been chosen by God.

The god that you all believe in is definitely not the same as the one who has said “Let there be light”. The god that you all believe in is called money.

Justine Gow: I don't understand what this minister was trying to say. If they do not fear God, why should they fear Paul Low? What can he do to them that God cannot do?

More likely, he would be thrown out of the cabinet by now if he had tried to do something right. The fact that he is still in cabinet shows that he has not done much.

CHKS: Low, I am glad I wasn't there at the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) high-tea. I would probably shake your hands as a Christian, but despise your speech.

You do not need to urge Christians to support 1Malaysia if 1Malaysia is a sincere effort. You argued that only certain people and certain leaders said and did certain things that are contradictory to 1Malaysia.

But why are these certain people not arrested and punished?

Slumdog: Low, why are you trying to resurrect 1Malaysia especially at a Christian community gathering even when Najib has cremated and buried the concept a long time ago?

It was a ‘nothing’ slogan, it never took off, was derided by all, and was not supported by government ministers or MPs.

As a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of good governance and integrity, you have been an absolute waste of time as you have achieved nothing.

In fact, the situation has gotten worse since your appointment. Where were you when the National Security Council (NSC) Bill was passed? Where were you when Najib stymied all investigations into the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’?

Versey: Low, if you were a genuine Christian, you would have known this verse from the Gospel of John 1:5: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Comparing you to the many courageous people who organised and joined the Bersih movement, the local and international independent news portals/media and many Malaysiakini commenters who shine in the darkness to expose the evil done in darkness, you, Low, obviously are not of the light.

This is because your existence in the cabinet does not shine in the darkness to expose any evil deeds (such as the cause behind the dismantling of the 1MDB task force), but instead you were overcome by the darkness.

Since you mentioned that your cabinet colleagues aren't god-fearing, who do you think you are that they need you in the cabinet? Please don't think all Malaysians are stupid nor all Christians are so gullible to accept what you said.

Saya Pun Nak Cari Makan: Low, you are actually a wallpaper in the cabinet. The aim is to hoodwink the public into believing that the government is serious about good governance and integrity.

By your statement, you admit that this government is not god-fearing, and you cannot be more right. If it is god-fearing, it would not redefine mega heist as donation.

And the leader would not be shamelessly propounding the virtues of his religion, while he allegedly plunders the nation high and dry.

So when a leader is not afraid of the wrath of God, would you think that he will fear you, a mere mortal? You are not needed, irrespective of whether the government is god-fearing or not.

Daniel: So he says that the present government does not fear God and thus has no integrity and abuses the power given to it. By inference, you also deemed yourself the only one who is god-fearing.

In the two years you have been in the government as a minister, what have you done to remedy this malaise?

You then asked the CFM audience to believe in 1Malaysia but you earlier admitted that even the government implemented policies against the 1Malaysia concept.

I'm not sure why the CFM invited you, but I'm sure as hell a large number of the audience would have puked the high tea they just had. You are such a sorry excuse for a minister.

Voice: I think what Low was trying to say is those leaders in BN, including his boss, are corrupt, doing bad things, abusing of the power given to them and so on, and he is - the god-fearing one - has been chosen to be there to save the day.

But chosen by whom?
