The authorities suspect arson in the damage by fire suffered by a Tamil school in Nilai early today.

Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said arson could not be ruled out in the fire that occurred at 2.25am at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Desa Cempaka.

However, the department was investigating the cause of the fire, he told Bernama .

The fire caused damage to doors, windows, ceiling, walls as well as books and files at three classrooms on the ground floor of the school, he said.

The fire was put out in 10 minutes by fire and rescue personnel from the Nilai Fire and Rescue Station, he added.
