We waste too much time on stupid issues, says KJ

Malaccan: Just to be clear, Malaysians do not waste time on stupid issues. It is just some Malaysians, whose commonality resides in their political leaning, narrow understanding of their own faith and their own character or values, or lack thereof.

Interestingly, Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) shares many of those traits. Just look at the stupendous statements that comes from KJ's own cabinet colleagues and party-mates. Stupid is as stupid does.

So please do not try to foist this in-bred-like behaviour unto innocent Malaysians. We see right past your trick. We know who you are.

Vent: Dead right, Khairy. Yes, Malaysians spend too much time on stupid issues.

And the Malaysians who spend the most time on stupid issues are the inane members of the current government of which you are part and parcel.

So by a simple syllogism, doesn't that make you stupid too? Aren't you ashamed to be a member of the 'stupid' government particularly since you are a graduate of that august institution called Oxford or did you leave your brains behind when you returned home?

Wira: KJ, you missed an important point. This incident is another nasty reminder to others that Muslims, encouraged by Umno, are becoming less and less tolerant of others in this country.

Sali Tambap: In this case, Khairy is right. Now those Muslims who made a big hoohaa over the cross in the newly-built houses in Langkawi look very stupid indeed and it is certainly a disservice to the great religion of Islam.

Now more and more people know that Muslims are afraid of the cross. I am not sure whether this is true or not, but one thing I am sure, they (Muslims) certainly believe that theirs is the right religion.

Thus by being publicly showing that they are afraid of the cross, which you find in many everyday structures and designs and not necessarily to denote Christianity, those Muslims did not play this issue smartly.

Speaking Sense: Indeed, who are the ones who bring up these stupid issues and who are the ones who encourage these stupid people to bring up these stupid issues?

Oh Ya?: Yes, KJ and the ruling elite should congratulate themselves that their years of racial baiting and religious bigotry has paid off.

They should rejoice that this "stupidity" is firmly indoctrinated into the minds of their core supporters whom they try to captivate by these means.

And they are the ones that should be blamed if there is elevated Islamophobia in ‘kangkung’ land.

Alamak!: Come on, people, for once KJ is right. He underlines the stupidity of the objection to the 'crosses' and at least shows a bit courage voicing his opinion.

Now we have to wait and see how more stupid those objectors can get - maybe insist the letter 't' be reinvented or always written in the cursive? Or maybe we need to use the Arabic alphabet...

Saya Pun Nak Cari Makan: If the cross is so distasteful, the religious departments have plenty to do.

For a start, embassies of countries with flags bearing a cross as symbols have to be removed. Flags of Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland cannot be flown in their embassies' compound.

Football clubs, like Barcelona should be banned. There should be no broadcasting of La Liga and Premier league because most of South American players make the cross sign while on the field.

Not Confused: Isn't it time that Malays who seem to see shadows at every corner and are now concerned that followers of Islam may be offended or become confused, take a look at their own mentality?

If the faithful can be so easily swayed by the sight of something resembling a cross, then it’s about time they apply some common sense.

This is the most ridiculous piece of nonsense that I've heard to date in a country that has a majority population, which appear to be permanently in a state of insecurity and are so easily confused.

Hplooi: Kedah Housing Committee chairperson Tajul Urus Mat Zain must be very satisfied on a job 'well-done'. The faithful shall be protected.

Now what else can he protect the faithful in Langkawi? How about cracking down on all the ‘haram’ alcohol being openly drunk or displayed, and most offensively being sold tax-free...

Shibboleth: KJ, being a graduate from Oxford, should know the university’s motto, ‘Dominus Illuminatio Mea’ which means ‘My Lord is My Light’.

So, can you shed some light to those who objected to what resembles a cross on terrace houses?

Apapunboleh: The facade of my house, especially the glass door, resembles many large crosses. My rottweiler will make mincemeat of anyone if he or she wants to mess with my house.
