'No open tender' - Chegubard says won't give up 'secret' letter
Activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin has refused to furnish a letter with regard to a claim he made against the Selangor government that an open tender process was bypassed.
Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali had urged him to show proof to the MACC if he indeed possessed a letter showing that a logging project involving the state government was done through a direct tender.
Badrul, better known as Chegubard, however today said that he believes that Azmin’s urging was nothing more than 'a trap' to ensure that the document will not be exposed.
“This has nothing to do with the MACC. Awarding a project or not is up to the state government.
“The question is whether it was by open tender or otherwise. Is Azmin trying to entrap me into furnishing the documents to MACC so that it gets ‘locked' under the MACC Act 2009?” said Badrul to Malaysiakini .
The PKR man again urged the menteri besar to declassify the documents so that the contents can be made public.
“Just admit whether you awarded the project and open the documents to the public so we will see who is in the wrong,” he said.
Badrul on Monday accused the Selangor government of lying regarding the logging tender for two plots of land in Chubadak and Makhota Cheras where electricity pylons are to be built by TNB.
He claimed to be in possession of a 'confidential' letter which he said proved that two companies were awarded the logging contracts through direct negotiation and not open tender as is required.
Azmin, however, said Badrul should stop 'barking' to the media and furnish the letter to the MACC.
“If you have proof, why bark about it daily? Go to MACC,” said Azmin yesterday.
