KINIBIZ Global Internet TV service provider Netflix believes that because the entertainment market in Malaysia is so broad that multiple brands can be successful.

“Many people will subscribe to several services (including Netflix) since we have different, exclusive content. The transition to Internet TV, with its greater consumer satisfaction, will mean growth for many Internet TV services,” the company said in an emailed statement to KINIBIZ today.

The company said this in response to questions from KINIBIZ in relation to Netflix’s global launch of its service yesterday.

Malaysia is one of the countries that now has access to Netflix services, with the first month being free for subscribers.

“Regarding content, our goal is to offer a fully global service with a global catalogue so no one has to wait for the hottest new show or movie.

"However, the world of content licensing has traditionally been very fragmented and regionalised. It will take some time, several years at least, to get to an offering that’s the same everywhere.

“Until then, we strive to offer a compelling service everywhere by licensing the best of TV and film available,” Netflix said in response to a question on why the Malaysian Netflix catalogue is different from that of the one in the US.
