S'gor PAS declares war on 'new enemy' Amanah
RCZ:
A good government is one that governs fairly, is accountable and transparent and is not corrupt. It is one where all interests of citizens are taken care of and the rakyat enjoy good infrastructure, housing, lifestyles, health, education and social services and live in peace and harmony with one another.
There is no need to defend one's religion as it will not be under threat and people are free to worship as they please. When PAS talks like that, i.e. it must defend Islam, it's time to kick it out. Religion should never be mixed with politics.
A non-Muslim PM will ensure this and if I am hearing Amanah correctly, it will ensure this too.
Does one declare war on bad governance and choose leaders who can do a better job or does one declare war on fellow Malaysians? Grow up, PAS.
Naresh_2cee: Why is it in Malaysia that a rival political party is considered an enemy when we are all Malaysians who love our country? We can disagree without being disagreeable.
We are concerned: The opposition needs PAS to win the next GE. The party needs to reform itself to be a formidable force and cut out all bigotry, otherwise it will not have the votes it needs to win.
It's not about getting out of its Islamic stand that is fundamental to its existence, but don't go two ways about it. It can't be saying one thing and doing another.
It can't allow itself to be wooed by one side and then step back, again and again. A two-minded man will never achieve anything. If working openly with Umno is good, go for it and don't regret.
If it is going to be with the opposition, go for it by all means. But it cannot have the best of both worlds. Be wise.
Responsible Malaysian: Fighting for what? Doesn't Islam still exist in Malaysia? Nobody intends to destroy Islam. Its existence is respected. Are certain politicians after something else?
Tommy: "If we are not in the (state) government, who will defend Islam?" said Iskandar. Just wondering: is defending a religion more important than putting food on the table for the family? What are they going to do to improve the livelihood of the people and the economy?
MA: "If we are not in the (state) government, who will defend Islam?” said Iskandar. Lim Guan Eng will defend Islam, do not worry about that.
Ib: The rest of the world must be in trouble. No PAS there to defend the religion? This is the kind of logic and warped sense of self-importance that our politicians have. A disgrace to Malaysians.
Roguekiller: Before 2008, PAS was not active outside Kelantan and particularly in Selangor, Islam was lively and people respected it; it needed no protection at all.
It was Umno that cooked up this fictitious fear that other religions were 'attacking' Islam. This was the most unfounded of propaganda and it also cited anti-Islam and anti-Malay moves, especially by DAP.
It was just a storm in a teacup stirred up by Umno to strengthen its Malay support as it began realising that this support was slipping. Therefore, Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar A Samad, Islam doesn't need protection whatsoever, from anybody.
Spirit of Malaya: PAS is dreaming big in Selangor. Please rewind the clock and check how many parliamentary and state seats you had before 2008 - next to nothing. PAS won seats in Selangor simply because of its "PAS for all" slogan propagated by its reformists and progressives.
Now that only the ulama and fundamentalists are left in PAS, right-thinking voters in Selangor will give them the boot, for sure, come GE14. So keep on dreaming, PAS chief Abdul Hadi Awang and gang.
Done: Your enemy is not Umno. They are your new brothers. Stop pretending. By the way, if you are not in the state, Amanah and PKR will be the defenders of Islam while DAP will help. Simple
Younglee: I will cooperate with you and be your adviser, but you are my enemy?
Oh Ya?: So PAS is the enemy of both DAP and Amanah, but yet can sleep in bed with them in the Selangor state government. What kind of political logic is this? What kind of Pakatan is this?
And the last Selangor state budget is literally a PAS budget as substantial sums were allocated for religious schools and teachers, other than the spending on rural areas and the social welfare state agenda.
Isn't this strengthening PAS? And wouldn't it have an upper hand in GE14, being the incumbent? Wouldn't it be detrimental to the opposition's agenda if it should win more seats and side with Umno? How could the opposition pact nurture PAS to become an ally of its arch-rival Umno? What kind is strategy is this?
PM: PAS can rest assured that non-Malays won't vote for it.
Cocomomo: Hopefully Selangor voters will reject all Umno and PAS candidates. PAS, you are not needed to defend Islam. Even DAP will defend moderate Islam, for otherwise it will not get the support of the voters. Umno, with its corruption, and PAS, with its extremism, should be rejected.
Spirit: Declare war instead on social injustice, corruption, oppression, racial prejudice and uplift the poor.
Rick Teo: Amanah should contest in all of PAS seats. Why only eight seats? Amanah will definitely win in all the PAS seats it contests. So please don't confine yourself to only eight seats.
Fellow Selangorians, let us all work in unison to wipe out PAS in Selangor. Let them return to ulu Kelantan. First, let us get rid of this fellow Iskandar from Cempaka.
Make sure he loses his deposit. Amanah will replace all the council seats previously taken by PAS. All PAS 98 council seats must be given to Amanah. Hidup Amanah.
Frankiepo: Who are you to defend Islam? Are you appointed by the Almighty to be the eyes and ears for Islam? No one is attacking Islam, it's just your imagination and excuse for your own political gain.
Ksn: Selangor MB Azmin Ali, have you read this article? PAS is in the government to defend Islam, not in the government to work in the interest and welfare of the people of Selangor - Malay, Chinese Indians and others. Selangorians, you know what to do to PAS in the next GE- wipe them out from Selangor.
Ketuanan Rakyat: Pakatan Harapan, please make your stand on PAS now. Enough of nonsense from PAS. The Selangor government must be run by Pakatan Harapan, not Pakatan Harapan + neither-here-nor-there PAS. Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali should not be allowed to continue to cloud this issue anymore.
Pakatan Harapan already has a simple majority, excluding PAS. Once a stand is made, some PAS members will join Amanah to give it a stronger majority.
Lamps: A vote for PAS is a vote for Umno. A vote for Umno is a vote for Najib.
