Umno and BN leaders must not succumb to the belief that the coalition is invincible, and therefore, they can sleep soundly, warned Syed Ali Alhabshee.

He claimed that with the opposition "twisting facts" to mislead the people, Umno must always be prepared to counter the threat.

Syed Ali said the opposition has mounted an aggressive propaganda campaign on social media, replete with slander and baseless allegations against Umno and government leaders.

"The opposition would use any manner to twist the people's attention so that it results in hatred towards Umno and BN," added the Cheras Umno division chief in a blog posting.

Syed Ali also urged BN component parties to be committed in improving their struggle to avoid what transpired in the last general election.

"Not only Umno, BN component parties must also work hard to ensure BN gets the support of the people. All are responsible in ensuring victory," he said.

"Don't think Umno and BN are invincible. We have to see reality: the opposition's aggressive attack to topple BN in the next election

"We have to work hard to defend Umno's strength and (stand firm) behind the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi," he added.

Furthermore, Syed Ali said Umno is faced with a new political threat influenced by the sentiments of the younger generation.

To tackle this, he said Umno must employ an approach that would help the younger generation understand and appreciate the true meaning of the party's struggle.

"The young generation must be inculcated with patriotism and the understanding that Umno's struggle is to raise the dignity and standing of the Malays and Islam," he added.

Syed Ali pointed out it is the responsibility of all Umno leaders to explain to the people on issues which concern the rakyat.

"The grassroots must be given clear explanations so there is no confusion and it is not exploited by the opposition to run down Umno and BN," he added.

He also called on Umno leaders to go to the ground regularly and not to do this on a seasonal basis.
