Singaporeans too are wishing Najib Abdul Razak a speedy recovery on Facebook and one had described him as one of the “friendliest person in Malaysia to Singapore”.

This follows Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Facebook status on Jan 9, wishing his counterpart who had undergone a minor surgery at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital a speedy recovery.

Lee told his 934,996 Facebook likers: “PM Najib Razak had a minor surgery today to remove a small benign growth on his right hand. Glad to hear that it went well and was successful. Wishing him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him soon. – LHL”.

Echoing Lee’s posting, which received 4,877 likes and 224 shares so far, Janarie Donald said: "Dear PM Hsien Loong, yes wishing him a speedy recovery. He is one of the friendliest persons in Malaysia to Singapore. I agree."

Chee Ivan said: "Sir, so far this man is very friendly to our nation, thank you for telling us. As a Singaporean I wish him speedy recovery."

Besides wishing the same, one of them hoped that the Malaysian prime minister could worry less and focus more on the betterment of Malaysia.

Jerry Sierra said: "Wish PM Najib Razak a speedy recovery and get well soon so that he does not need to worry too much and concentrate on getting Malaysia onto the right footing."

Beyond that, Facebookers expressed their hopes that relationships between the two countries would be strengthened, going forward.

Joseph Tan: "I am glad to hear that PM Najib Razak has had a successful minor surgery. In my assessment, he is by far the best PM for Malaysia to build on a win-win relationship with her closest neighbour, Singapore. May he be able to manage and overcome the intense challenges of his office in the years ahead."

Others took the opportunity to wish 2016 a better year for Najib.

Yi Feng Niang said: "PM Najib is good to SG (Singapore) but going through tough times, poor man. Hope 2016 would be a better year for him and Malaysians!”
