PAS and its splinter Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) may be at war with each other but the two parties managed to find common ground in flaying the Malacca government for allowing a beauty pageant to be organised in the state.

Both Malacca PAS Muslimat chief Kintan Man and Amanah women's wing chief Mahani Othman Basir slammed the Miss Tourism 2015/2016 World pageant as an 'exploitation of women'.

"PAS Muslimat, which upholds PAS' policy of Islam, strongly opposes the organising of this programme," said Kintan, adding that it went against Allah's laws.

Mahani in a separate statement took issue with Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron's presence at one of the beauty pageant's events.

"This Miss Tourism is clearly haram in the eyes of Islam as they (the participants) wear revealing and indecent clothing while the audience comprises men and women.

"More unfortunate is the presence of Malacca chief minister," she said.

Mahani demanded that Idris apologise to women in the country for allowing and supporting such programmes.

The Miss Tourism World is an international event which has been previously hosted in Venezuela, Equatorial Guinea and Thailand, among others.

The winner for this year's Miss Tourism World, which is being hosted in Malacca, is set to be crowned this Saturday.
