Cops stop insane man carrying meat cleaver to palace of justice
A man, believed to be of unsound mind, was detained by police after he was found carrying meat cleaver and a knife in a bag while entering the Palace of Justice, in Precinct 3, Putrajaya, today.
In the incident about 9am, the 27-year-old man wearing a red T-shirt and a sarong, was said to have planned to enter the Palace of Justice to meet with a judge to talk about his personal problems.
Putrajaya District Police Chief, ACP Rosly Hassan said the unemployed man was detained when he was checked at the main entrance to the Palace of Justice.
"The man was taken to the police station and the police were informed by a family member that he had a hospital record for mental treatment," he said when contacted today.
Rosly said the case was referred to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) who later sought hospital reference for further action.
The man was believed to have boarded a bus from Bukit Rambai, Malacca this morning to go to the Palace of Justice.
It is learnt that the man had tried to enter the Palace of Justice in December last year but was stopped by auxiliary police there.
