The Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur today set March 29 to hear the prosecution's objection to an application by activists Adam Adli Abd Halim and Mohd Fariz Abd Talib to challenge the constitutionality of the charge against them.

Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris fixed the date after deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaitul Faridah Raja Zaharudin informed the court that the prosecution had submitted their objection to the application.

Raja Zaitul Faridah said the objection was handed yesterday to Adam Adli ( photo ) and Mohd Fariz's lawyer, Melissa Sasidaran.

The court also set Feb 3 for the defence to file their reply.

Adam Adli, 26, and Mohd Fariz, 45, filed the application on Dec 17 last year under Section 30 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964.

They were jointly charged on Sept 8 with participating in an illegal rally held from Sogo Complex, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to KLCC esplanade in Kuala Lumpur between 4pm and 7.30am on Feb 28 last year.

The charge under Section 4(2)(C) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, punishable under Section 4(3) of the same act, carries a fine of not more than RM10,000 on conviction.
