Aide: Hadi not suffering from major illness
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is not suffering from any serious ailment, according to his political secretary today.
Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said Hadi was warded at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur to undergo several routine tests.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the tests showed that he is not suffering from any major problems.
"He also thanked PAS members, supporters, leaders and the people for praying for his health," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian .
Samsuri said doctors also advised the 68-year-old PAS president to rest and limit the number of visitors.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak visited Hadi and posted a photograph on his Facebook.
Najib also said he was praying for the PAS president's recovery.
The prime minister, who is also Umno president, recently extended an olive branch to PAS, which is his party's traditional arch nemesis.
This elicited mixed responses, with the syura council stating that while cooperation is welcomed in issues related to strengthening Islam, PAS would not join the ruling coalition.
Prior to this, PAS vice-president Iskandar Samad said the grassroots would not agree to working with Umno as the latter committed numerous sins against PAS supporters and members.
Hadi, on the other hand, is often accused of being supportive of Najib and a unity government with Umno.
