An electronic cigarette (or vape) seller was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court in Kota Baru today on charges of selling and unlawful possession of liquid nicotine which is poisonous.

Magistrate Mohamad Nasrudin Mohamed imposed a fine on Muhd Azahar Safie, 28, after he pleaded guilty to possessing 518ml of liquid nicotine without approval or authorisation under the Poisons Act 1952.

Muhd Azahar was accused of committing the offence at the Wakaf Che Yeh wholesale market in Kota Baru at 11.15pm on Nov 5.

The accused later paid the fine at the Kota Baru Court Complex payment counter.

Deputy public prosecutor Fahrul Razi Zainal Abidin appeared for the prosecution.
