Parti Amanah Negara said it has already done all it could in objecting to the beauty pageant that is set to take place in Malacca tonight.
“There is nothing more that we can do. We have already conveyed our message through Amanah Wanita.
“The next move will be for the state government," said Malacca Amanah chief Adly Zahari.
He was asked if Malacca Amanah was planning to take any further action to stop the Miss Tourism 2015/2016 World pageant.
On Tuesday, Malacca Amanah Wanita chief Mahani Othman Basir slammed Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron for endorsing the beauty pageant.
“This Miss Tourism is clearly haram in the eyes of Islam as they (the participants) wear revealing and indecent clothing, while the audience comprises men and women,” she had said.
Malacca PAS Muslimat chief Kintan Man had similarly voiced her party’s opposition to the event, calling it an “exploitation of women”.
However, Idris had defended the beauty pageant, stating that the event provides global publicity for Malacca’s tourism industry.
The Miss Tourism World is an international event which has been previously hosted in Venezuela, Equatorial Guinea and Thailand, among others.
Participants are from across the globe and the winner for this year’s Miss Tourism World is expected to be crowned tonight.
Selangor MCA liaison chief Ng Chok Sin had yesterday criticised Pakatan Harapan for not reining in Amanah on the issue.
