Brothers jailed for burying stillborn baby

Two brothers who hid the birth of a stillborn baby boy by burying him at a flat in Nilai were sentenced to 12 months' jail each by the magistrate's court in Seremban today.

Salesman Muhammad Faez Mohd Fuzi, 24, and jobless Mohamad Fazrul Mohd Fuzi, 21, pleaded guilty to concealing the birth before magistrate Siti Khairiah Abdul Razak.

The offence was committed at Flat Taman Semarak about 6pm on Jan 9.

The court also ordered the siblings to pay a RM5,000 fine each in default a month's jail.

The duo served the sentence from the date of arrest on Jan 12.

Nonetheless, the other joint accused, factory worker Nurul Atikha Abu Zarin, 25, who was the baby's mother pleaded not guilty to the offence and claimed trial.

Nurul Atikha, who is Muhammad Faez's girlfriend was given bail of RM3,200 in one surety.

The court set Feb 16 for re-mention of the case.

Siti Khatijah Mohd Pisol was deputy public prosecutor.
