Malay rights group Perkasa has warned that the ruling coalition risk losing Putrajaya in its eagerness to push ahead with the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

"The rakyat's disappointment in TPPA will be translated in the general election.

"We don't want to see the government fall because of its mistake in signing on the TPPA," Perkasa economic bureau chairperson Ruhainie Ahmad told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Ruhanie also sarcastically bid Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak "good luck" in pushing through with the TPPA.

"Najib's leadership is shaky right now, so good luck," he said.

Perkasa is among several NGOs that be participating in the anti-TPPA rally tomorrow.

Ruhanie said now was the time for NGOs to press the government on TPPA.

"We are not asking that the government completely reject the agreement but we want a comprehensive and holistic study, only then we can decide to accept or reject," he said.

The International Trade and Industry Ministry has performed impact assessments on the TPPA which is expected to be presented in Parliament when MPs will vote on the agreement at the end of this month.

Ruhanie also urged the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to form a royal commission to evaluate the TPPA.
