If giving RM30 taxi fare is graft, what about RM2.6b?

YOURSAY | ‘RM30 versus RM2,600,000,000. Or perhaps they just do not see the zeros?’

‘Corruption!’ BN page cries of RM30 for patients at TPPA rally

Visu: The Umno mind sees everything in a corrupt way. An HIV sufferer is dying and even if RM2.6 billion is given, it would not make sense to him or her, as would a little subsistence of RM30 being a token of sympathy and well-being.

These crooks are so corrupt that they only see their immoral image in everything and everyone else but in themselves.

GE14Now!: RM30 versus RM2,600,000,000. Or perhaps these ‘Friends of BN’ just do not see the zeros?

Anonymous_3e79: RM30 is like transport fees for the patients. Certainly it will help them get a taxi home.

For Umno rallies, they give transport, accommodation, meals and money. And misinform the people that they are going for a Kuala Lumpur sightseeing tour.

Anonymous_1421406986: We may be missing the point here. Positive Malaysian Treatment Access & Advocacy Group (MTAAG+) head Edward Low must have appealed to people who genuinely understand or will be affected by the adverse effects of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) to attend the rally.

Where was the presence of the business community who may be directly affected by TPPA? Marching to oppose the TPPA is all right but the marchers must from the affected community, not individuals who are not affected by TPPA.

Let us not forget that interested parties, especially local pharmaceutical companies, may also be attempting to protect their own interest and play up on the issue.

Most medication can be purchased at hugely discounted prices if purchased in bulk and bonusing discounts, as practiced by group medical practitioners.

Anonymous 2299391436500295: It's worth noting that US drug maker Gilead's cure for Hepatitis C costs American insurance companies US$84,000 for the full 84-day course of treatment, but only US$900 in Egypt, India and several other developing countries with a heavy presence of Hep C.

In effect, US patients and insurance companies are subsidising medical treatment in other countries with US-developed medical advances. Not all things TPPA are necessarily associated with Great Satan conspiracy theories.

Tengku: Why in the first place did you ask them to attend the rally? It should be a voluntary event, and there should be no money involved. And what's so wrong about the TPPA?

The Analyser: Common sense would suggest that any exchange of money in relation to a public demonstration is guaranteed to be misinterpreted.

Falcon: Those planning many political shenanigans in Malaysia have failed their mathematics and religious studies and so have difficulty assessing what is right, wrong and pure unadulterated corruption.

No liberties under IS, Najib says to justify NSC law

Vijay47: Oh dear, PM Najib Abdul Razak, did you and IS have a lovers' spat? Have you fallen out of love with them?

Remember, IS was the flavour of the month you were drooling over, exhorting all of us to emulate, telling us how fearsome they were in taking on an enemy 30 times bigger in number and through their sheer bravery and determination, were able to overcome their foes.

We shouldn't admire them anymore, we should hold in awe only Bugis sea-faring pirates? You say that the National Security Council (NSC) Bill (still a Bill and not yet an Act) is essential for our survival, to keep IS and related terrorists at bay.

As a nation, we had the communist insurgency and later the Indonesian Konfrontasi and we had in place then the necessary regulations to see the country through these challenges. Are you now saying that if somebody attacks us tomorrow, we would not have the appropriate legal foundation to defend ourselves?

Quick, Najib, gazette the Bill, make it law, and valiantly lead us into battle. Bring Joan of Arc with you.

Anonymous #74150739: Is there a difference between being under IS and being under the NSC? Both may do what they like as both do not have oversight checks and balances.

Wandering Star: The cat is out of the bag. The business of highlighting 'IS activities' recently in Malaysia is to boost the NSC Bill to be passed.

Najib has learned well from Dr Mahathir Mohamad to abuse this 'privileged' NSC Bill to allegedly silence the opposition.

Anonymous_40f4: Come 2018, GE14 will be due but if BN is not 200 percent sure of winning to stay in power, they will create fear (IS here and IS there) and declare some parts or the whole country a security area and will not call for elections.

If that happens the country will be destabilised because no investments will come in and foreign direct investment (FDI) will stop. The rakyat, including the Malays, will suffer due to the uncertainties. This has happened in many West African banana republics.

They have already started the IS fear to divert attention from the billion ringgit scandals.

The Analyser: Guess whose head will be the first to roll under IS rule?
