PKR hopes opposition parties maintain straight fights in GE14
PKR today expressed the hope that opposition political parties will maintain "one-to-one contests" in the next general election, even though PAS is reportedly reluctant to work with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said that if the opposition parties could forge understanding on common policies, it would have a positive impact for them in the next general election.
He was asked whether PKR would assist Amanah, a splinter party of PAS, to contest in Kelantan in the next general election. He had earlier attended a closed-door briefing with Kelantan PAS, in Kota Baru.
In a one-to-one contest, opposition parties would refrain from contesting against one another so as to engage in a straight fight with BN.
Azmin, who is also the Selangor MB, said PAS should respect the cooperation between PKR and Amanah, although PAS was not in the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact.
PAS - a partner in the previous Pakatan Rakyat coalition that also included PKR and DAP - was left out of the Harapan pact, which has PKR, DAP and Amanah as partners.
