Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has not decided on the courses to be dropped from the sponsorship list of foreign universities.
"However, we may introduce twinning programmes of two years abroad and two years at home," he told reporters after attending a Meet-The-People programme at the Kampung Tinangol Long House in Kota Marudu.
Also present were his deputy, Alexander Nanta Linggi, and Kota Marudu Umno division chief Wetrom @ Mohd Fikri Bahanda.
Ismail Sabri said Mara will review its policy of sponsoring students abroad in line with the government's aim to make Malaysia a regional education hub.
Under the new policy, only selected students will be sent to study abroad while the rest will be placed in local universities.
