Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has offered his "old friend" advice on what issues should not be exploited to seek fame.

He said former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam should steer clear of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"Leave the MACC alone [...] As a politician, the people will only see (you) as an individual trying to take advantage of the situation to become a champion for certain quarters.

"If you want to take advantage of things, find some other issues like defending the poor, or other problems faced by Malays and the general public," he added in a statement today.

Ibrahim was responding to Mohd Ali urging MACC to act against its special operations director Mohd Bahri Zin.

Mohd Ali accused Bahri of issuing statements which could "confuse the public", and "smear the prime minister's image."

The MACC director landed in the spotlight when he revealed that the commission would most likely appeal the decision by attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali to clear Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of any wrongdoings.

Bahri also described the cases involving the RM2.6 billion and SRC International's RM42 million transferred into the prime minister's private accounts as straightforward.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim said by making such remarks, the former chief minister had sullied MACC's integrity.

As such he said, Mohd Ali should let the graftbuster deal with its own problems.

The Perkasa chief added that by attacking MACC, Mohd Ali could make the public hate Umno even more.

As such, Ibrahim said all must support the commission in its efforts, so that MACC becomes a truly credible agency.
