The management of Atria Shopping Gallery in Petaling Jaya took down a Chinese New Year wish put up by its patrons, which it said could be “defamatory” against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The notes put up as part of the mall's 'Wishing Cards' programme included wishes that the PM would step down or that he and his wife Rosmah Mansor would jatuh longkang (fall into a drain).

"It is not enough for Najib to fall into the drain. Najib and Rosmah must fall into the drain," the note said.

Pictures of the notes are now being circulated online.

"It has come to the attention of the management of Atria Shopping Gallery that a few persons have penned politically-sensitive and possibly, defamatory statements on the wishing cards, which were set up by Atria Shopping Gallery in the public concourse for their shoppers.

"The management wants to make clear to all, that these opinions and views expressed on the Atria Wishing Cards are the personal opinions of the persons who penned the notes and do not reflect the opinions or views of Atria Shopping Gallery or management," the management said on the mall’s Facebook page.

"Atria Shopping Gallery and its management do not endorse nor encourage the posting of such statements," it said.

A similar activity was carried out by Nu Sentral mall in Kuala Lumpur, where shoppers write their Chinese New Year wishes and hang them on a blossoming plum tree.

A picture of one note from Nu Sentral that is circulating online states: "Undur Najib."
