Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu has been branded “childish” for chucking the microphone during a recent event.

Umno lawmaker Nawawi Ahmad said the show of frustration was not surprising since to date, Amanah has not received the support anticipated by its leaders.

The Langkawi MP advised the opposition leader, popularly known as Mat Sabu, to set a good example for others, especially his party members.

“To be a leader, you must behave accordingly. He must realise that the rakyat have the right to make their own decisions.

“Don’t mix party’s struggles with rude behaviour. That’s why I said he is having an internal conflict,” he told Umno-Online today.

Mohamad’s antics, added Nawawi, should serve as the best example to the rakyat in making their decision when it comes to choosing the government.

“Amanah’s struggle itself has yet to receive the rakyat’s trust.

“He should have provided a better example and showed what his party could do better than the government at present.

“Don’t merely throw the microphone. That’s just childish,” he said.

Mohamad, whose speeches are normally peppered with humour, had stunned his audience on Tuesday night when speaking at a function to mark the first year of former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s imprisonment.

He flew into a rage and accused Malaysians of being cowards with regard to their reaction towards the allegations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Speaking to Malaysiakini the next day, the Amanah president said he intends to continue with this approach to jolt Malaysians from their political apathy.
