Pisasu 7: Nastenska Sureshar, a gold medalist in Karate who is also an engineering student, cannot get assistance. Maybe the Indians need help from the Indian high commissioner, like the Chinese ambassador who has helped Chinese schools. The Malays could also seek help from Indonesia.

Dex: "She turned to crowd sourcing after failing to secure a scholarship via the Youth and Sports Ministry, which she was assessed for, before she won the gold medal for Malaysia"...so much for tapping and retaining young talents.

We need some answers from both Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and his deputy M Saravanan.

Exranger: I am shocked to know that she had to pay for her flight. Eat instant noodles, then go for training?

Don't they have team managers and coaches and so on, sports minister? Don't they monitor what the athletes eat?

Speak for all: What happened to our great sports minister Khairy? I think the MIC should refer this matter to the minister. Is it so difficult to sponsor her sports activities and her studies when we can spend so much money on hockey and football and not see any results at all for years?

Roar For Truth: Proud of Nastenska and her indomitable spirit. She doesn't need a tongkat to succeed in life. Well done, girl.

RR: Since she is studying at Uniten, TNB should have acted to provide her with a full scholarship.

Leongan: I am a Malaysian, so I helped even though it should be the government's job. If waiting for government's help (which is always not coming for especially non-Malays - pardon me for saying so), how can she train with a stomach half-filled with instant noodles?

Mojo Jojo: Nastenska, the government has money for Mara loans but has little money for your exploits that could bring fame to this country. Little wonder why the non-bumiputera opt to leave when given the opportunity.

Fly-on-the-wall: This is how we lose all our talented people to other countries. Singapore and other countries will be more than willing to fund her.

Kamal19: Why hasn't MIC'S Saravanan, the deputy minister of sports, extended any assistance?

MariKitaUbah: What is MIC as a whole doing for her? The amount needed by her is in fact chicken feed compared to the wastage by the BN government.

Surely more can be done to help her to pursue her academic and sports needs. Come on, MIC.

Mafeeah: Very good although I find this as another attempt by MIC to gain easy publicity to lift up their party, what with the still ongoing leadership tussle.

However, it will be better to note that after 50 years in the government, can you see where are some Indians heading? Gangsterism, drugs, turf wars, broken families, poverty, dropping out of schools, robberies, theft, and the list goes on.

So MIC, another cheap publicity stunt considering that the girl has already collected the money way before you dropped in? On the same note, it was Malaysiakini who highlighted this issue first so credit goes to them more than MIC/BN.

Gggg: MIC claims to look after Indians affairs but how come they are so blind to ignore Indians excelling in sports and studies, that they need a sensational news article to get attention? Perhaps, this way it can get better publicity?

Alfanso: Struggle is good, girl. Keep going and don't follow the cheap offers of assistance and don't expect anything in return. But you must soar to greater heights. See you at the Olympics.

Keldai Malaysia (Dulu Harimau Malaysia): The two lessons I got; it's not worth being active in sports while in school or college, and MIC will help when it can get cheap publicity. Well done, Nastenska.

MCA deputy minister: Don't be negative on Chinese envoy's donation

Retnam: So has the ambassador agreed to remove the Chinese Naval vessel near Sarawak?

Fair&Just: It's only RM5,000 per school and if it manages to filter downwards, how much will the really needy recipients get anyway? Plastic chairs, cups, brooms etc, 'donated' from some 'kind' plastic factory?

Sabahan Chong, are you very sure it is an act of kindness? If it is indeed an act of kindness, it means that the Chinese ambassador (bless his soul) is kinder to the Chinese schools than our own Umno/BN government.

Democrat: At least it did not go into the private account of Liow Tiong Lai or Wee Ka Siong. This is how donations should be made.
