Umno Puteri chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said youths are growing tired of the behaviour of the old amid criticism by several Umno veterans against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership.

"Youths these days are tired of what is happening as well as the antics and attitudes shown by the old guard.

"The youths don't want any split in the party as a result of the internal crisis," she said in a statement tonight.

Mas Ermieyati, who is also Masjid Tanah MP, zoomed in on Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin who openly criticised Najib and the financial scandals plaguing him.

"Clearly, Muhyiddin's repeated open statements against Najib have affected the party institution.

"It has also courted reaction from a number of Umno leaders on top of raising speculation among party members about the number two man in Umno," she said.

She warned that such antics will affect the support of youths towards Umno in the general election.

Mas Ermieyati stressed that any problems should resolved through the proper channels.

"The most important mission is to strengthen the party machinery and rakyat's confidence in Umno after the attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali explained in detail about the issues concerning Najib," she said.

Several Umno veterans including Mahathir Mohamad and Rafidah Aziz have grown increasingly critical of Najib's leadership.

This is amid the discovery of RM2.6 billion in Najib's personal bank accounts which he claimed was a political donation.

Najib has denied wrongdoing and Apandi has also cleared him of any offences.

However, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is appealing Apandi's decision not to prosecute.
