Fire destroyed the house of Kampung Rahmat Umno branch chief Saidi Hassan in Kampung Lembaga, Gua Musang, today.

Saidi's sons Shahrul Aiman, 28, and Shafiq Ashrah, 19, escaped the 4am fire by running out through the rear door of the double-storey house.

Shahrul Aiman said he woke up his younger brother and they ran out.

He said his parents were not at home as they had gone to their daughter's house in Kuala Krai.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief senior assistant superintendant Anuar Abas said 16 firemen fought the fire and brought it under control in 30 minutes.
