Be smart Internet users, Rosmah advises Girl Guides
The prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, is disappointed and aggrieved with those who use the Internet to spread falsehood, slander, and instigations to disrupt national peace.
She said they were not making good use of the Internet but saw it as a platform to condemn those they hated, be it leaders, public figures, members of the corporate sector and individuals.
“Therefore, I wish to advise members of the Girl Guides in the country to be smart internet users. Screen and check information obtained to determine if they are authentic or slanderous," she said at the 2016 National World Memorial Day celebration themed 'Connect' at Dewan Seri Negeri in Malacca today.
Also present were Chief Minister Idris Haron and his wife, Fadilah Abdullah, who is also a patron of the Malacca Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (PPPM); PPPM chief commissioner Normala Baharudin; and Malacca PPM president Zainon Ghaffar.
Elaborating, she said youths especially girls should be careful and protect themselves when communicating with unknown people on the Internet.
"Do not divulge any secret and personal information to people you don't know on the Internet to avoid untoward incidents taking place," she added.
