My views matter, Rafidah's do not, says Nazri

Res Ipsa: Sorry, Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz. But you must remember that former minister Rafidah Aziz earned the nickname of 'Iron Lady' because of the way she conducted herself during her political tenure.

Though feared by many because of her mannerisms, she was well-respected as a leader both locally and globally.

Naturally, when someone of her calibre notes that something is very wrong with the leadership, she can't be expected to accept things hands down.

This has got nothing to do with past or present leaders and Rafidah is merely expressing the views of the majority of Malaysians.

In fact, you should be the one who should be ashamed for not speaking on behalf of the rakyat, being an elected representative when the evidence of alleged wrongdoing of someone in power is so clear and damning.

Instead, you choose to tag along and keep protecting that someone to satisfy your greed for money and power. So continue to make hay while the sun shines. We are all waiting to see how long more you will last.

Ksn: Each and every citizen has the right to speak up about what is wrong with the country – the rotten leadership, corruption, abuses, etc.

One need not be a leader of a group to speak up. Rafidah talks sense while Nazri, you do not.

Sos: Nazri, your views may matter but to whom? Only to you and PM cronies in Umno. Her views matter to all those who seek truth and transparency. That's the difference.

Any donkey will tell you that when money is deposited into your bank account by persons unknown, that is totally wrong.

MerelyOne: Nazri, voters elect someone to 'represent' their views. 'Leadership' is something completely different, and to be frank, I'm not sure you would qualify.

NNFC: I think the views of people who have contributed something to the country matter most. Rafidah's views matter a lot.

I’m afraid Nazri's views not at all. And it does not matter if he is elected or not.

Ipohcrite: I believe the current crop of Umno ministers has developed the knack for self-delusion and utter conceit.

As far as right-thinking Malaysians are concerned, Nazri has long been dismissed as someone who makes a lot of loony noises but creates no positive impact on the nation's well-being.

On the contrary, he has in fact helped to make the government a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

Rafidah is a different kettle of fish altogether. In general, Malaysians do speak quite favourably of her, based on her long tenure as a minister.

ACR: Any minister or leader who blindly supports his superior on the pretext of the misused notion of collective responsibility, or “we must support the current leadership like how we supported the past PM”, is not worthy of public office.

Your duty, first and foremost, is to the public and to uphold the laws of the nation. Nothing else matters.

If supporting a leadership leads to undermining the law and principles of governance, then you have a duty to oppose such leaders.

Rafidah is a senior citizen and former national leader. What do you mean her views don't count?

Vijay47: Nazri, once again you reveal for the whole world to enjoy that unique intelligence and logic that only an Umno (what's that you said?) "I am a leader", can possess.

I fully agree with you that in Umno, only position matters. Sense and wisdom do not play a role and this status increases exponentially the higher up the pecking order one goes.

I am not sure what to make of your venture into philosophy when you hold that a person can offer an opinion only if he represents a group. Yet you go on to say that Rafidah's comments are disrespectful of the Umno president.

Your confused syllogism may be typical of life within Umno but to the rest of us, it is as usual - extremely entertaining.
