PAS will not join the March 27 anti-Najib Razak gathering and PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan has come out in defence of president Abdul Hadi Awang's decision.

He said this is consistent with the party's stand against toppling a leader via an undemocratic approach as it prefers to change the system instead of one particular leader.

In a statement today, he claimed that Hadi's stand is in line with the maturity and harmony of the political culture spearheaded by PAS.

“PAS' politics is about saving Muslims through the teaching of Islam. Thus, PAS will not oppose any individual, but we are against ideologies, policies and systems which go against Islamic teaching,” he said.

Citing the analogy of doctor and patients with critical illnesses, he said the doctors will continue to treat their patients even though their wounds fester or stink.

He was responding to the criticism against Hadi following his refusal to join the gathering called by former law minister Zaid Ibrahim. There are those, including some in Umno, who have viewed this as PAS expressing its support to the country's biggest political party.

PAS rejects anarchy, and the politics of hate and emotion. It also supports the appointment and removal of the leaders in a democractic way, said Nasrudin.

He added that PAS is consistent in objecting any act to oust leaders, be it former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim, former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir or Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

'Why do we need to change the driver when it's the vehicle's engine that has broken?” asked Nasrudin, who is also Temerloh parliamentarian.

Continuing the analogy, he suggested the company that owned the vehicle was trying to fool the passengers and the public so they would not take another vehicle.

He added that PAS refuses to drag the country towards anarchy which would only destroy its economy and political stability.

“PAS offers a vehicle in good condition to the public. Come and join PAS,” he said.
