Will IGP call in ex-AG over Muhyiddin’s allegation?

YOURSAY | ‘Gani, did you or did you not give the information to Muhyiddin?’

Gani zips lips over alleged evidence against Najib in SRC case

Res Ipsa: Former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, rewinding back to the time when you were unceremoniously dumped as the AG, I recall penning a comment asking you to come out with the truth and shame the devil.

You chose to keep silent at that time where your removal was justified by your master on health grounds. However, you have come out thereafter claiming that there is nothing wrong with your health and suggested that you would open up when the time is right.

Now that suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin has openly revealed your act in referring to him the various issues of alleged misappropriation surrounding the SRC International monies and the RM2.6 billion donation, don't you think that the time is now ripe for you to take the cue and confirm what the ex-DPM said.

For goodness sake, please do the right thing immediately instead of just continuing to sit on your backside. You may never get another chance.

Ferdtan: Gani, your health is not good. In the past as AG you had behaved badly, not unlike many top government civil servants.

Malaysians can be forgiving and can forget all your previous faults if only you redeem yourself by coming out, at least at this late stage of your life, to tell the truth.

Is there enough evidence to implicate PM Najib Abdul Razak in possible corruption in the money received by Najib into his personal accounts?

Did you or did you not give that information to Muhyiddin? It is better late than never.

FellowMalaysian: An honourable, dignified or responsible former AG should never refuse to respond to such a serious allegation implicating Najib when he was explicitly mentioned by Muhyiddin about “being shown (by Gani) it (SRC monies) was clearly a criminal act”.

Shamu99: Why is the inspector-general of police (IGP) not calling in Gani for clarification on this revelation? Also, Muhyiddin should be called in and his statement taken as well.

JD Lovrenciear: Gani, is sealed lips still an option? We are talking about an entire nation's integrity.

Please go down the pages of history by doing the most honourable thing. It is no more about any one person’s maruah or the survival of a political party; it is about doing national service.

Negarawan: Do not expect Gani to reveal anything as he is part and parcel of the corrupt Umno system.

His integrity was brought into serious question in the Pedra Branca case at the International Court of Justice where the Malaysian legal team produced false and misleading evidence. Their shameful attempt was subsequently demolished by the Singapore legal team.

No BS: Gani’s no denial speaks volumes. I can't believe Umno does not have enough members with principles and courage to stand up against such obvious cover-up of an alleged crime.

Anonymous_3e79: There is indeed no honest official in Malaysia under Umno. Gani will not reveal the truth because he has skeletons in his own closet, which will also risk being revealed by Najib.

6th Generation Immigrant: Here’s a lesson in life. What goes around comes around. One should not have stored too many skeletons in one's closet. Protruding bones make good ransom collateral... silence can be rewarding.

Why didn't you defend yourself, Shahrizat asks Muhyiddin

CQ Muar: Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is about the most thick-skinned minister among the Umno Baru ministers. Fancy such audacity asking why Muhyiddin didn't defend himself despite being given an opportunity to do so.

Shahrizat, the simple answer to your question is because the former deputy prime minister (unlike you) has dignity and honour, which you are lacking.

Is this the reason why your family (perhaps assisted and influenced by your ministerial power) denied part of the RM250 million government soft loan, which was meant for cattle-rearing, was instead used for investing in high-end condos and properties?

Anonymous_1421806811: I wonder what Shahrizat meant when she said Muhyiddin’s actions were "against the rules and spirit of our struggle".

Is Umno’s struggle is to keep an allegedly corrupt, immoral and thick-skinned man in power? Is it Umno's rule, "I scratch your back and you scratch mine and we close one eye to the misdeeds of the political elite"?

Shahrizat must be worried if the opposition comes to power - her husband's court case may be reopened.

Ipoh Pp: What is there for Muhyiddin to attend the Umno supreme council meeting when the chips are against you?

The whole supreme council was there to humiliate him. Their votes were decided long before the meeting. No amount of defending will help him when the rest had made up their minds.

Muhyiddin was intelligent not to attend a farcical get-together.

Aquinas Says: Assist the president in hiding evidence of corrupt practices? Assist him in suppressing the agencies tasked with investigating 1MDB? Assist him in spreading lies?

Is that what you mean, Shahrizat?
