Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is ready to reconsider his decision to resign from the post of president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

This followed a closed-door meeting betwen FAM secretary-general Hamidin Mohd Amin and Tengku Abdullah, who is also Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, in Kuala Lumpur today.

"After the heart-to-heart talk, Tengku Abdullah thanked all members of the FAM executive committee. He also accepted my explanation on the hopes of the FAM executive committee members," Hamidin said in a press statement.

Tengku Abdullah also told Hamidin that the FAM would be told of his final decision soon.

Talk of his wish to quit the FAM top post surfaced after Malaysia's disastrous 0-10 loss to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a 2018 World Cup/2019 Asia Cup qualifier in September 2015.

Tengku Abdullah said he would hand over the reins of the FAM gradually to his deputy, Afandi Hamzah to ensure that the nation's main football body has a sound administration.
