Weak earthquake hit Lahad Datu this morning

An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter Scale occurred in Lahad Datu, Sabah, at 8.43am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

MetMalaysia in a statement released in Kuala Lumpur said the quake hit an area located about 35km south-east of Lahad Datu.

"The epicentre of the quake is at 4.9 North and 118.6 East. Tremors may be felt in Lahad Datu," it said.
