Dr M: Strange group, but all agree Najib must go

Simple Malaysian: Yes, interesting times indeed. While it is going to be entertaining or even intriguing to see how strange bedfellows work, all this will only come to a big fat naught, if there is no all-round effort for a complete system overhaul and removing the allegedly cancer-ridden Umno and its allegedly corrupted-to-the-core personalities.

Anonymous Hotplate: All citizens should join and support these leaders to save the nation from Najib Abdul Razak's hand. It is our country and we have the right to ask the PM, who was chosen by the people, to step down.

Putrajaya, Parliament, and the PM's position do not belong to Najib or his wife, Rosmah Mansor.

Doc: I was highly sceptical about this bipartisan meeting taking place because:

1) When the political differences between the opposition and Umno are so vast, just like water and oil that can't mix; how can they possibly interact?

2)The wounds caused by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, especially on certain members of the opposition such as Lim Kit Siang, jailing him under the Internal Security Act (ISA), the jailing of Anwar Ibrahim on an allegedly trumped-up sodomy charge, etc, are sins that are too painful to forgive.

3) I just can't fathom Dr M getting rid of Najib and promising a meaningful overhaul of the political arena here in Malaysia. Frankly, I think Dr M has a hidden agenda in replacing Najib with his crony gang, and then it's business as usual in Umno.

But nevertheless the meeting has taken off, with the bitterest of rivals endorsing this Dr M-opposition coalition.

It is certainly an unprecedented move, never before seen in Malaysian politics, but I will be watching these events unfold with cautious optimism.

Goldee: History is made on this day, March 4, 2016 where the strongest opponents of Dr M, who was with him, supported the agenda of removing Najib. This is the last resort and I hope something positive will emerge from it.

Sali Tambap: Yes, this gathering is historic. Never in a Malaysian's wildest dream that great nemeses would meet and agree on a common purpose. This was really unthinkable but happen it did.

Najib must have done something really bad to make this possible.

Anticonmen: Finally, only now Mahathir talks about all of us, irrespective of race or party, being citizens of the country and about equality. All this while, for more than 50 years, he was preaching inequality.

How a foxy chameleon can change. Equality is a very important check and balance by itself against dictatorship, that was removed by Mahathir in the first place. He finally learns this.

FellowMalaysian: Bersih leader Maria Chin Abdullah said implementing reforms meant correcting the mistakes of the past when asked whether Mahathir would be forgiven for undermining institutions.

That meant Mahathir will be hauled up and made to answer the horrors of his past, and steps will be taken to ensure he will not repeat them.

I see many leaders and few followers, therefore ego will play a big part over the absence of kow-towing. Let us wait and see.

I’m wondering if it is all designed to test the Sarawak election. The presence of Muhyiddin Yassin, Mukhriz Mahathir and Shafie Apdal, who only yesterday declared they will stay with Umno to continue the fight, surprises me.

Are these characters courting dismissal?

Frankie: I don't know how Najib would feel but I am certain our inspector-general of police (IGP) is going to have a field day with so many leaders challenging the Najib government.

Abasir: It’s show time, folks! I'm beside myself awaiting the scintillating analysis, insightful commentary and wisdom-dripping tweets from the country's part-time 'political analysts', me-too 'Analysers', and most importantly, the brood of unintelligible troopers under the able stewardship of Lan 3.85.

The Analyser: Here we have 58 individuals and some have their own ideas on how to ‘Save Malaysia’.

The vast majority have absolutely no idea what they are on about. They can only agree on one thing and that is to get rid of Najib.

Yet, despite what they all think, getting rid of Najib is not the priority. Finding an alternative to Umno is the priority.

Has anyone thought to ask what the chances are of bringing Najib to justice if he voluntarily resigns?

As usual, for Malaysians, nobody is thinking about anything but their own well-being and how they can take advantage of this scheme.

Franco: May the Force be with you. This is epic ‘Star Wars’ where Darth Vader/Anakin (Mahathir) returns to the fold of the ‘good’ when he witnesses his son Luke (Mukhriz) is ‘attacked’ by the Evil Emperor Darth Sidious/Senator Palpatine (Najib) and strongly welcomed by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Anwar).

On a more serious note, we all know that Dr M have had his share of putting down the opposition and now he is willing to ‘sleep’ with the enemy to ensure he gets what he wants.

All said and done, chances are Dr M will revert to his Umno ways once his objective of bringing Najib down is achieved. I recall him saying to an interviewer, "At the end of the day, I am a politician. I do whatever it takes to get it" or something along those lines.

So let us now bring Najib down and worry about what will happen next for later.
