Hadi brushes off signing of Citizens' Declaration

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has brushed off the signing of the Citizens' Declaration yesterday which called for the ouster of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"There are those who signed but they aren't any organisation or groups... sign, but we (PAS) have our own decision.

"There are some resolutions that we can accept, there are resolutions that we cannot accept, and there are resolutions that we are prepared to add on to," he said in a video uploaded on PAS' official Facebook page.

Hadi did not specifically state PAS' stance but reiterated that Umno members were not the Islamic party's enemy.

"There were some (PAS) leaders among us who attended the (Citizens' Declaration signing event) – we must understand my statement I made a few days ago.

"I made a statement that PAS does not make enemies of Umno members, PAS is only anti-Umno's ideology.

"We are different from Umno in terms of ideology, but we don't want to be enemies with Umno members; we must understand that these are two separate things," he said.

Hadi added that ultimately, PAS will need the vote of Umno members.

"Can we win through the votes of PAS members alone? We cannot win with PAS members alone.

"If possible, we want Umno members to vote for us too. We want non-Muslims to vote for us too," he said.

Hadi said PAS' approach in dealing with the ongoing crisis in the country is that it should be left to the leaders.
