Bera Umno has urged that Dr Mahathir Mohamad be stripped off his government positions following his action in working with the opposition to oust Najib Razak as prime minister.

Its chief, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said this was a unanimous decision made at the special meeting of Bera Umno division committee in Kuantan today.

Mahathir is currently the chairperson of Perdana Leadership Foundation and Proton Holdings Berhad, as well as adviser of Petronas.

"Bera Umno strongly condemns the attempt made by Mahathir and Lim Kit

Siang (DAP advisor) alliance to illegally topple the prime minister," he said in a statement today.

Ismail Sabri said Bera Umno was also disappointed with former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir for joining the alliance and urged Umno supreme council to take stern action against the duo.

Muhyiddin and Mukhriz were among 50 individuals who signed the Citizens' Declaration to support the move to oust Najib as prime minister last Friday.

Also supporting the declaration were DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik.
