PARLIAMENT A BN lawmaker made his plea to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad whom he loves so much to stop his bid to oust Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) urged Mahathir to heed the advice of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah to stop politicking for narrow gain .

"I am very sad today as Tun Mahathir whom I love and look up to (is trying to oust the prime minister)... I urged him (to stop) as advised by the Agong.

"Enough is enough, stop it," said Ahmad who tabled a motion to thank the royal adress at Parliament.

"(His Majesty) had mentioned that cetain parties and a few others (have aimed for) narrow (gain) until the people were influenced," he said.

"Why I said so? This is because Mahathir had visited my constituency (Sibuti) and inspired us to unite," he said.

"Sarawak was once threatened by communist, but it is peaceful and harmonious now. Don't bring this matter to Sarawak," he said.

In his opening address at this year's Parliament session, the Agong said differing views should be appreciated instead of slander and attempts to topple each other.

"Once again, I call upon all the honourable members to be united and to love this country. Give your undivided loyalty, defend and protect the country.

"I hope all the honourable members will stop politicking for narrow interests as the prolonged (politicking) has exhausted the people and government," he said.

"Be a good example to the people by working together to come out with views that are beneficial to the harmony of the people and the prosperity of the country.

"In a parliamentary democracy, we may have different views. Celebrate the space (the difference) and not topple, slander and foster enmity with each other which can lead to the downfall of the nation," he advised.
