PARLIAMENT Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should remove ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad from GLCs for fear that the former premier may sabotage the government via his position.
This was according Nasrun Datu Mansur (BN-Silam) who said this when debating the royal address in Parliament.
He also urged Mahathir, who is worked with the opposition to oust Najib, to be gentlemanly enough to relinquish his GLC positions including as Proton chairperson and Perdana Leadership Foundation honorary president.
"The demand by Pakatan Harapan and Mahathir through the Citizens Declaration had showed that they have no respect for the democratic system," he said.
"As a matter of principle, Mahathir should be gentlemanly (enough) to step down from all the positions he holds. He has lost confidence in the government and Najib's leadership.
"We do not want any element of sabotage in the government to exist in these positions because I am sure if Mahathir is willing to work with Harapan, then they intend to topple the government," he said.
Since these groups intended to oust Najib. he said Mahathir may go to the extent of tarnishing the country's name which ultimately may impact the economy.
"I suggest and urge the prime minister to take appropriate action and remove Mahathir (from the GLCs)," said Nasrun.
