Set up shadow cabinet, Pandikar tells opposition again
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia has repeated his call for the opposition to set up a shadow cabinet in their effort to contribute to parliamentary reform.
By doing this, he said, they can coordinate better and would not repeat the same speeches in Parliament which ultimately can save time.
Pandikar even cited the former opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim, who he said had debated for six hours in the House.

Pandikar even cited the former opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim, who he said had debated for six hours in the House.
"If you want to save time, why not you form a shadow cabinet? Try it and save time.
"If you have a shadow cabinet, you will save a lot of time. You can refer the questions on finance to the shadow finance minister. There will also be shadow education minister and shadow labour minister.
"Why can’t they form that, it’s part of democracy," he said at a press conference at Parliament lobby.
"I have already done the reform you want. Why can't they do certain reform among themselves?"
Pandikar then asked the journalists to refer his question to the opposition leader, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat - consisting of DAP, PAS and PKR - had formed a shadow cabinet which headed by then opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The Pakatan Rakyat shadow cabinet had three shadow deputy prime ministers - PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and a leader from East Malaysia.
Instead of shadow ministers, each portfolio was handled by a shadow committee made up of lawmakers of the three parties.
The shadow cabinet appeared to fall between the cracks after the 2013 general election.
Pakatan Rakyat has since disbanded, with DAP, PKR and PAS splinter party Amanah, forming the new opposition pact, Pakatan Harapan.
