MACC confirmed Saudi royalty gave Najib RM2.6b, says Azalina

Commentable: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman's statement is causing even more confusion.

If the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had confirmed that the Saudi royal family gave PM Najib Razak the RM2.6 billion donation, then why did Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir claim that the money was not a donation but most likely was for investment instead?

And if it was for investment, why did the money go into Najib's personal account and kept as a secret to just about everyone, including his then DPM.

Why did MACC want to challenge the attorney-general's decision to clear Najib of all wrongdoings?

Sticking out like a sore thumb is of course the deposit of RM42 million into Najib's accounts from state-owned SRC International. That allegation makes a good enough reason to warrant further legal process to determine guilt.

So why was that case hastily swept under the carpet?

Quigonbond: If Azalina places so much trust in MACC, she should get the AG to charge the PM over the RM42 million.

After all, both findings - the Saudi royal donation and the SRC money - are from the same institution. Yet, AG thinks MACC is not putting together a proper chain of evidence over the RM42 million.

If that's the case, should we really trust MACC when they say the RM2.6 billion is a donation?

The government is tripping over itself time and again.

Or shall we ask the Saudi king to also swear on the Quran?

Azalina, if you can't reveal the transcripts of these witnesses' accounts and the supporting documents, please don't make yourself sound sillier than you already are.

Balachan Cili: Azalina, show us the 'documents' that the money was wired to Najib's personal account by the Saudi royal, just like the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) did when they produced the proof regarding the RM2.6 billion scandal.

Odysseus: Why don't they get MACC to table their findings in Parliament and subject itself to questioning?

Basically: Stop playing with semantics, Azalina. Did the MACC confirm the money from the Arabs was a donation, and if those sources are legitimate and free of corruption?

Or did they just say, yes, we saw the transaction from Saudi Arabia, so it was from the Saudis. We all believe the money came from Saudi, there is still a huge question mark as to where the Saudis got it from.

For all we know, it could have come from a Jew who gave it to the Saudis who gave it to Malaysia's PM. Now wouldn’t that be interesting for Umno?

In addition, have you personally vetted through all the "testimonies and supported documents" and understood them?

Because if you have not carefully reviewed them, you are guilty of saying something on the basis of hearsay. That's parroting or mindless spinning. Or you may even be guilty of spreading lies.

And your motive may be the covering up of what many see as a bundle of blatant and massive corruption.

Why not make what you claim are the findings or the "testimonies and supporting documents" public so that there is no need at all for you or any other Umno person "explain" this RM2.6 billion and RM42 million to the rakyat.

Do you have the courage to let us be the judge? Why fear if what you and your friends have been saying is based on honest truth?

Hang Babeuf: Okay, so assume it is true. That "Saudi royalty gave Najib RM2.6 billion."

In that case Najib should be denounced and tried for imperilling, perhaps selling out, Malaysia's national sovereignty by accepting these funds, this extraordinary "donation".

Where else in the world would such a thing be possible? Where else would such an excuse exculpate the recipient?

His "best excuse" condemns him outright, no matter what he says.

RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Azalina, if a big-time robber is found to have RM2.6 billion in his bank account, would the police or any authority accept it as legal if he just claims that it was a donation from an Arab royalty without furnishing any proof or documents?

And, would you believe that Najib did not know that a huge sum of RM42 million was deposited into his account?

If Najib is to be believed, the officer who transferred that huge sum should be sacked for incompetence and negligence. After depositing the money, he must notify Najib on the transfer. Failing which, he is not fit to handle such large amount of money.

But whatever it is, in all probability, the RM2.6 billion is not a donation, and in the second case, Najib knew the RM42 million was transferred into his account.
