Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak told the House today that he will let the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) decide on the RM2.6 billion donation and 1MDB scandals.

"I am responsible to the people. I will let the PAC decide on 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation.

"The process of accountability in the country will continue," he said.

Najib also said attacks against him regarding these scandals were "orchestrated".

He was responding to an additional question by Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) on how he plans to deal with the confidence crisis stemming from these two scandals.

The PAC is probing 1MDB. However, the RM2.6 billion donation is not in its scope of investigations.

The donation is also not part of the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB.

PAC chairperson Hasan Arifin has also not indicated that the committee would call Najib to testify.

The committee’s probe has been called into question after the audit report on 1MDB was sealed away under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), raising concerns about a cover-up.

Najib has denied misusing public funds for personal gain.

Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has also cleared the prime minister of any wrongdoing in the RM2.6 billion donation and RM42 million SRC International cases.
