Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the opposition will appeal the Dewan Rakyat speaker's decision not to allow a motion of no confidence against attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali.

She said a letter of appeal to Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia will be submitted soon.

“ I will sent a letter to (him) soon. I urged the Dewan Rakyat Speaker to place the people's interests in the forefront in improving Parliament,” she told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

On another matter, Azizah, who is also the PKR president, said the party will have to hold discussions first before deciding whether to cooperate with the PAS-Ikatan coalition.

She said such a cooperation is on the cards, if the coalition shares common goals in fighting the oppression of the current regime.

“ We want to fight the tyranny that is in the current government.

“ If there is common ground in what we are doing for the country and for the people, we can cooperate but as a formality, that must be discussed first,” she said.

She said this when reporters asked whether she would rule out the possibility of cooperating with the PAS-Ikatan coalition.

Last Tuesday, Members of Parliament Coordination Bureau Johari chairperson Abdul said the no-confidence motion was submitted to the speaker.

The motion was received by the speakers' office on Feb 26, but was rejected because it was deemed "unconstitutional" .

The motion among others states cites Apandi's decision to not prosecute PM Najib Abdul Razak as reason for loss of faith.

This is over the RM2.6 billion donation and RM42 million from state firm SRC International found in Najib's bank account.

The motion of no-confidence was submitted based on Article 145 (3) of the federal constitution and Parliamentary Standing Order 27 (1), (2) and (3).
