Banners accusing the DAP of dictatorship have emerged in several parts of the island and in Butterworth in Seberang Perai.

Accompanying the banners, which carry a photo of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general, are words "We do not need dictators. PKR should review its cooperation with DAP and PH (Pakatan Harapan)".

The banner is signed off with the words "Angkatan Muda Keadilan Pulau Pinang (Penang PKR Youth wing)".

According to PKR representative Khairil Anuar Kamaruddin, four of such banners have been detected so far.

The Penang PKR Youth wing has issued a statement strongly denying that it is responsible for the banners.

"The banners are a form of provocation intended to destroy the cooperation among Pakatan Harapan component parties, especially, DAP and PKR," the statement issued by the wing's chief Asrol Sani Abdul Razak, said.

"Those who are responsible for the banners have also maliciously slandered the Penang PKR Youth wing."

Asrol said such tactics by the wing's enemies show that they are now bankrupt of ideas and are unable to face the wing's leadership.

"They seem unable to confront the state PKR Youth leadership, which seems to be most stable at the moment," he added.

The relationship between DAP and PKR became thorny after Lim sacked two PKR assemblypersons - Cheah Kah Peng (Kebun Bunga) and Ong Chin Wen (Bukit Tengah) - from their posts as directors in the state's government-linked companies.

Lim said the duo were sacked since he, as chairperson of the GLCs, has lost confidence and trust in them after they reneged on their decision to vote out a motion in the state legislative assembly proposed by Umno to halt reclamation projects.

Cheah and Ong have insisted they voted based on conscience and for public interest as reclamation would impact the environment and livelihood of the fisherfolk.

Recently, anti-Guan Eng banners saying that the duo should not be sacked also appeared on the island and in Seberang Perai.
