On CM’s house buy, action speaks louder than words

Meet me one on-one, Guan Eng challenges accuser over house purchase row
Alunan Ombak:
Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahya, if you have the facts, show us you have the guts to meet Penang CM Lim Guan Eng in front of the mass media.
Failing which, you are just spitting in the air but has it splashed smack on your own face and we can call you a defamer.
But if you succeed in proving him to be corrupt - allegedly like your ‘tai kor’ - you will be our hero. Dare to take up Guan Eng's challenge?
Anonymous #31081882: Guan Eng's salary is high enough to afford a RM2.8 million house.
Here’s the breakdown of the CM’s salary, RM14,000; MP salary, RM16,000; MP allowance, RM5,000, plus other various per diems, and perhaps some other salary for being in the Penang state assembly which I could not find out.
So his minimum income is RM35,000. He can afford a house worth far more than RM2.8 million.
The question now is whether the house was sold lower than its actual value. This is quite subjective, but I think a quick check with real estate agents or online property websites can tell you that.
In addition to this, Guan Eng took a bank loan and the bank needs to have the house valued by a bank-appointed professional, so the value of that property is documented by professionals.
In the case of former Selangor MB Mohamed Khir Toyo, two professional valuers were engaged by the government who testified on the actual value of the property.
Responsible Malaysian: Finally, Shabudin has comes to his senses. For the rakyat, this is a very good move.
He knows that corruption is very bad for the country and he will speak out if he sees any politician suspicious of wrongdoing.
Shabudin, keep up your good job and do speak up against any politician who is suspected of corruption.
Don't forget that there are suspects on the BN side, too. I will vote for you if you can reveal facts about these corrupted politicians.
Tpn: Here we have a politician who is willing to come forward to be questioned. This is highly commendable. I wish our PM would follow in Guan Eng's footsteps.
Anonymous 24331438100949: I believe Guan Eng should not buy the house in the first place. He has an official residence as CM.
The problem starts when political leaders start exhibiting a luxurious lifestyle. This should stop, be it opposition or BN.
At the same time, Shabuddin should also look at those big houses owned by BN politicians, ministers, MPs, menteri besar and wakil rakyat.
He will have to make hundreds, if not thousands, of police reports on how they are able to afford such luxurious homes.
ACR: Till today, no challenge to meet face-to-face in front of the media to clarify matters ever came from those accused of billion-ringgit scandals in BN.
We should not hero worship any leader, be they opposition or BN, but in the ultimate analysis action speaks louder.
Speaking Sense: Indeed, at the other end of town, questions about RM2.6 billion and RM42 million found in the PM’s bank account are not even allowed - those asking questions risk arbitrary arrest - and are answered only by parrots who keep on saying the same thing - donation, donation, donation.
Penang CM denies low price of house part of kickback
Neutral Point: Guan Eng, a RM2.8 million house is a ‘poor man’s’ house. You should be staying in at least a house worth more than RM10 million, only then you are comparable and at par with the Umno people.
YS Tam: Neutral Point, I agree with you. Guan Eng should be staying in a house worth RM10 million.
But don't worry, the house is probably worth RM10 million although he only paid RM2.8 million. Big discount for the big man loved by Chinese all over Malaysia.
Wira: CM Lim, please challenge the MP for Tasek Gelugor to repeat his allegations outside Parliament.
Otherwise, he is worse than Utusan Malaysia which at least had the scrotal gumption to print libels against you sans parliamentary protection.
Ex-PJ: Did Shabudin ask Najib how his daughter's multi-million wedding expenses were paid for?
Ijoe7: Guan Eng needs to go to the University of Umno. Next time, get a huge house and buy it at a fraction of the cost (with donation money of course), then put it under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
Onyourtoes: If Shabudin turns up to for a one-on-one meeting with Guan Eng at Komtar on Sunday as challenged, I will quit writing my comments for one month.
As a politician, the onus is on Penang CM to explain
