'Weird' is Rahman Dahlan's take on bungalow SD

BN strategic communication director Abdul Rahman Dahlan feels there is something odd about the statutory declaration (SD) regarding Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's bungalow.

This is because the SD by the bungalow's seller Phang Li Koon was read out by Penang exco Phee Boon Poh, who is related to the businesswoman.

Taking to Twitter, Abdul Rahman described this as "weird".

"Why can't she come out and read her SD on her own? At least the press can ask her directly. After all she said she has nothing to hide," he said.

"I hope Phang can come out in public to answer questions. Surely that would give more credence to her defense of Lim," he added.

Lim has come under scrutiny after it was revealed that he had purchased the bungalow along Jalan Pinhorn for RM2.8 million, which is well below the market price.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is probing the deal while the chief minister has denied any wrongdoing.

In her SD, Phang said it was her right to sell the bungalow at whatever price to a man whom she respected.

The businesswoman also revealed that she did not conduct a market survey before fixing the price.

Phang said she did not get any benefit from the state government by selling the house to Lim.

"It was my decision at what price I wanted to sell it to the CM.

"I stress that I was not pressured or forced or under undue influence by CM (Lim) or any party to sell the house to him at RM2.8 million.

"I sold it on my own free will on a 'willing buyer and willing seller' basis," she added.

Meanwhile, Phee, who is the state welfare, caring society and environment committee chairperson, said it was his duty to defend the reputation of Phang as her family member.
