The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has visited the state government offices in Komtar to probe allegations of wrongdoing involving Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's purchase of a bungalow on Jalan Pinhorn.

State executive councillor cum state DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow disclosed this at a press conference today, saying the MACC came earlier in the week.

"I believe all state government officers will give their full cooperation to the MACC to complete the probe speedily," he added.

Chow said the state DAP supported all the efforts by Lim to cooperate with the MACC, to uphold Penang's principle of clean governance.

He also urged all DAP supporters to remain calm and patient in facing the recent challenges, which he described as an effort to undermine the chief minister and the Penang government.

"There is no need to for the CM to take leave pending investigations as he has given his assurance to cooperate fully with the MACC," Chow added.

Lim is faced with an MACC probe over the purchase of his bungalow for RM2.8 million in 2015.

Umno Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya who raised the issue in Parliament on March 17, has accused Lim of corruption for buying the property below market price.

He also questioned if the purchase of the unit had links to the sale of state government land in Taman Manggis, Jalan Zainal Abidin.

Lim has said the Taman Manggis land was sold to KLIDC - a dental services company - via an open tender committee chaired by the state secretariat.

The Penang chief minister also clarified he bought the bungalow for a price that was agreed with the owner in 2012, after renting the premises from RM5,000 a month since 2009.

The owner, businesswoman Phang Li Koon, has said in a recent statutory declaration that she sold the house to Lim based on a "willing seller, willing buyer" basis, and that she has no dealings with the state government to benefit from the deal.
