No issue being linked to Guan Eng, S'wak DAP tells PBB

Sarawak DAP has no fear to be associated with Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, its state chief Chong Chieng Jen said today.

“I wish to put the record straight – Sarawak DAP has no fear to be associated with Lim.

“He may have bought the house cheap, but it is from a private individual who has made it clear that she has no returned favour from the Penang state government for the sale of the house to Lim,” said Chong in a statement today.

The Bandar Kuching MP was responding to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Peter Minos’ reported challenge to Sarawak DAP to not link Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) with Najib’s alleged financial scandals.

Minos had issued the challenge in exchange for the Sarawak BN to not link Sarawak DAP with Lim’s controversial purchase of his bungalow.

Chong said that while Minos is trying to disassociate the PBB and Sarawak BN , party president Adenan Satem has pledged his full support for Najib Abdul Razak to be the prime minister.

“For a start, Minos must make clear about his contradictory stand with Adenan.

“How can he claim that Sarawak BN has no association with Najib when Adenan has on many occasions pledged full support for Najib and without Sarawak BN’s support, Najib will not be able to stay as prime minister.”

Adenan had reportedly rained praises on Najib during his recent visit to Sarawak earlier this month, saying that he should be prime minister of Malaysia “until the end of the world”.

‘Ridiculous to compare Lim with Najib’

He also claimed that Minos’ likening of Lim’s house purchase scandal to Najib’s RM2.6 billion donation and 1MDB-linked scandals is a “ridiculous” analogy.

The main difference, Chong said, was that Lim had made a private transaction to purchase his house while Najib was accused of abusing public funds.

“Minos’ challenge to DAP not to link Najib to Sarawak only goes to show that the BN Sarawak is worried about its association with Najib.

“However, no amount of denial by Minos or any BN leaders in Sarawak can convince Sarawakians that Sarawak BN has no connection to Najib and Umno,” he said, adding that Najib’s alleged scandals have had negative impact on the country’s economy.

He also said the only way for PBB and Sarawak BN to disassociate themselves from Najib and Umno would be to leave the ruling coalition.
