Embattled DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will meet Penang lawmakers tomorrow to update them on his controversial bungalow purchase and other issues.

"This meeting will be held tomorrow at Lim office at Komtar. It is just a normal meeting between the chief minister and Penang DAP representatives," DAP legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo told Malaysiakini.

"He is going to update the Penang DAP lawmakers on the latest development," he said.

The controversial RM2.8 billion bungalow, which Umno MP Shabudin Yahya alleged was bought below market price, will be among the topics discussed, said Gobind, who is Puchong parliamentarian.

He was responding to a report in The Star , which quoted sources claiming that the party will hold a crisis meeting or emergency meeting tonight.

It was reported that the parliamentarians and state assemblypersons will be issued a guideline on what to say and what not to say about the bungalow.

Gobind admitted that the meeting was originally fixed for tonight, but it was later decided to be put off till tomorrow as the leaders have to attend the Parliament sitting tonight.

Bungalow sale linked to purchase of land

Shabudin accused Lim of corruption for buying the bungalow at below market rate.

He also linked the purchase to the sale of Taman Manggis – a state government land – to a private company.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has started an investigation into the matter, while Lim has insisted that the bungalow was bought based on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis.

However, DAP vice-president Teresa Kok (photo), admitted that Lim gave them a briefing during the lunck break of the Parliament sitting today.

"We were informed via WhatApps about the briefing. Call it an emergency (briefing) if you want.

"We just ate bread and listened to his story during the lunch break. The issue was first spread online, and we never thought (Shabudin would) bring it to the Parliament.

"We are not busybodies to keep track of how much he borrowed (as loans from the bank)... Some of us are not even aware of what had happened (exactly)," Kok said.

"This is a deal between two people. What is so big deal about it?"

"If (DAP veteran) Lim Kit Siang were to buy house, a rich supporter may even give the house to him based on their relationship and how much the supporter worships the leader," she said.
